See where reachable public Bitcoin nodes appear to be located. Country data is a hint, not a legal address.

Compare network types

Separate IPv4, IPv6, Tor, and mixed reachable nodes to understand how the public network is being observed.

IPv4 nodes

The most common public Bitcoin nodes reachable through regular internet addresses.

IPv6 nodes

Nodes reachable over IPv6. These help show newer internet routing support across the Bitcoin network.

Tor nodes

Nodes reachable through onion routing. Tor can improve privacy and censorship resistance, but it is harder to measure completely.

Mixed visibility

Some Bitcoin nodes may be reachable through more than one network path, or may appear differently depending on scanner reach.

What the Bitcoin node map can and cannot show

A public Bitcoin node map cannot show every Bitcoin node. Many nodes are private, firewalled, temporarily offline, hidden behind Tor, or unreachable from this scanner.

BTCNodes shows reachable public nodes observed by this project. It is a visibility tool, not a perfect global node count and not an official Bitcoin census.

Node counts, locations, network types, latency, and availability can change often as nodes restart, update software, move hosting providers, block scanners, or disappear from public reach.

Is this every Bitcoin node?

No. BTCNodes only shows reachable public nodes observed by this scanner.

Is the BTCNodes map official?

No. BTCNodes is an independent experimental project for exploration, education, and public network visibility.

Why do node counts change?

Nodes go offline, change IPs, block scanners, restart, update software, or become temporarily unreachable.

Can node location be wrong?

Yes. Location is based on network and IP hints, so VPNs, hosting providers, Tor, and routing quirks can make locations imperfect.

Why do some nodes show old block heights?

They may be syncing, stuck, slow to respond, temporarily stale, or reporting data from before the latest chain tip.

Does BTCNodes inspect wallets?

No. BTCNodes scans public Bitcoin network nodes. It does not inspect wallets, private keys, balances, or private user activity.
